Why our future is always prophesied by stories
We have previously discussed how all change (action) is rooted in stories. Perhaps that is why all cultures since the dawn of time have been so diligent in maintaining them either in writing through arduous oral traditions.
Before we dive into the process of idea generating for the future and designing the systems in ways more aligned with fairness, kindness, abundance and order, we should take some time to look at the stories that currently pervades our reality. Building anything on top of rotting stories has the same effect as constructing a house on quicksand.
While these stories to most of us are subconscious, delivered maticulously by algorithms, interest organisations and spin doctors. However if we do first become conscious of them, there narrative content will sieve into the systems that we are trying to build, infecting the intentions behind them and making their structure less clear as a result.
By collectively holding strong conceptions of our cultural stories we are able to agree far quicker and to a much more productive degree, as all collaboration ultimately roots in shared incentives and shared incentives are a result of shared goals.
It also allows us to clearly see where our cultural actions aren’t alligned with the ethical foundations they purport to be based on. Once this is clear, resistance of any kind can be far better honed, precisely articulated and effectively used to eradicate hypocrisy and hold powers that be responsible to the population that serve.
